Adaptive Polling Engine & CPU Throttling
Continuous high-frequency AT command polling can cause Quectel baseband processors to freeze or crash the USB serial interface.

The AT Command Lockup Problem#
When traditional GUIs flood the modem's serial port with AT commands while heavy cellular download traffic is active, the modem's internal Cortex-A7 core starves, dropping packets and freezing the web UI.
Dynamic Polling Tiers#
QManager solves this with an Adaptive Polling Engine:
| Engine State | Condition | Polling Rate | Telemetry Depth |
|---|---|---|---|
| Active Tier | Web browser dashboard open and in focus | 1,000 ms (1s) | Full 4x4 MIMO, CA, RSRP, SINR |
| Idle Tier | Browser tab minimized or inactive | 5,000 ms (5s) | Core signal metrics only |
| Deep Sleep Tier | No web clients connected | 30,000 ms (30s) | Watchdog ping and health check only |
This reduces modem CPU utilization from ~35% down to under 1.5% during normal background operation!
