Installation on RM551E (Custom OpenWRT)
This guide covers installing QManager on the Quectel RM551E series modem, which operates with a dedicated on-board custom OpenWRT baseband environment (unlike the RM520N which runs native Qualcomm SDXLEMUR Linux). Once installed, the modem can sit in a standalone 5G-to-Ethernet board and plug into the WAN port of any router.
Prerequisites#
- An RM551E modem running on-board custom OpenWRT.
- SSH access to your modem (
ssh root@192.168.224.1). - An active internet connection (or see Manual Offline Installation).
curlinstalled (opkg update && opkg install curl). Note: The installer strictly requirescurl(tools like BusyBoxwgetoruclient-fetchare not supported).
One-Line Automated Installation#
Open your terminal or SSH client, connect to your RM551E modem, and execute:
curl -sL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/dr-dolomite/QManager/main/qmanager-installer.sh | shWhat the Installer Does Automatically#
- Queries the GitHub Releases API to identify the latest compatible release tarball.
- Downloads
qmanager.tar.gzand verifies its SHA-256 integrity hash. - Decompresses the frontend assets into
/www/qmanager(or/wwwroot if selected). - Installs CGI endpoints into
/www/cgi-bin/quecmanager/. - Configures
uhttpdweb server to handle JSON API requests and static routing. - Sets up
procdservices for the connection watchdog and live signal background broker.
Selecting Release Channels#
By default, the installer grabs the newest available release. You can specify channel flags if desired:
Install Latest Stable Release Only#
curl -sL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/dr-dolomite/QManager/main/qmanager-installer.sh | sh -s -- --channel stablePin a Specific Version Tag (e.g. v0.1.35)#
curl -sL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/dr-dolomite/QManager/main/qmanager-installer.sh | sh -s -- --tag v0.1.35Post-Installation Verification#
-
Open your web browser and navigate to:
http://192.168.224.1(Stock on-modem RM551E default IP address)
-
If prompted, log in with your modem root credentials.
-
The dashboard will automatically probe the serial port (
/dev/ttyUSB2or/dev/cdc-wdm0) and begin streaming real-time signal metrics!
Uninstalling QManager#
To completely remove QManager and all associated services from your RM551E modem:
curl -sL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/dr-dolomite/QManager/main/qmanager-installer.sh | sh -s -- --uninstall
